VBS Decorating:  Decorating for VBS begins Monday evening, Aug. 2nd at 6:00.  All are welcome to help.  Putting up decorations for VBS has always been a fun get together and we have many decorations graciously lent to us by other churches.  Let the inner decorator in you come out!  Please let Nancy Hoopfer know when you can help --  938-2411.

ELK LAKE COMMUNITY CHOIR:  The Elk Lake Community Choir will be singing once again as the Harbor Voices during Harbor Days Festival this year.  Performances will be on Thursday, August 5 and Friday, August 6 at 7:30 PM each evening at the Peterman Auditorium.  As it is our 15th year of performing, we will be bringing back old favorites such as “Phantom of the Opera”.  We will also feature a new Beatles medley.  Area singers and musicians will participate as well as dancers from the Alden Dance Academy, directed by Lana Rowe.  Cheryl Knight, Music Director and Paul Rajala, Accompanist welcome all of you to attend.  A freewill offering will be taken following the concert.  Proceeds go to local charitable organizations.

FINANCIAL STATEMENTS:  Mid year financial statements are in your mailboxes.  If you have questions or need more detail, please contact Ruth Peterman, 938-1318.

SUMMER MINISTRY:  As summer is in full swing and family get-togethers and vacations are planned, please be mindful of the ministries that need to happen here at Feast.  Before you leave on vacation, please check the duty roster to make sure you are not scheduled for ministry.  If you are, please find a replacement or exchange dates with someone.  This will enhance our worship services and lower the stress levels for our Presiding and Assistant Ministers, especially, while Pastor Jim is gone.  We thank you for your cooperation and wish you a blessed and safe summer!

FATHER FRED NEEDS YOU:  Father Fred is in immediate need of several volunteers to help fill critical positions:  intake workers, office assistants, check writers, and data entry team members.   This is a great opportunity to extend a helping hand to families in need.  If you enjoy working with people, have great listening skills, like a fast paced environment and have 4 hours a week you could commit, we would love to talk to you!  Please call Sue Bauer, Volunteer Coordinator, 947-2055.

THANK YOU!  A huge thank you goes out to all who purchased paper at Staples in July.  We gathered about 3 ½ cases of paper, that’s 36 reams of paper.  Feast saved about $180.00!  Thanks so much!!

THANK YOU!  Thanks to all who recycled their ink cartridges to Staples.  The Church has received $51.00 in rewards since January.  You can still recycle cartridges, put them in the office or take them directly to Staples, just give them the church’s phone number.  Thanks!

NEW ZIP CODE:  If your zip code is changing, please contact Karen Klug so she can make this change on our membership roster.  This change may affect you if you are in the 49686 or 49684 zip code. You should have received a letter from the Postmaster if your zip code will change.

BASS LAKE FESTIVAL:  Bass Lake Festival, August 6-9 at Michi-Lu-Ca Conference Center and Camp, for high school aged youth provides an “outside the box,” grace-filled experience of the Christian faith.  Through great music, unique learning opportunities, and a relaxed, community-building atmosphere, this event shares the Gospel with youth from all backgrounds and levels of maturity in a beautiful outdoor setting.  And this year our young people will have a chance to interact with our presiding bishop who counts time with young people a special joy.  For more information please see the article in our newsletter or contact Linnea Rajala at 631-7383.

HEALTH KITS:  We are in need of 32 more nail clippers to complete the health kits for Lutheran World Relief.  Join the Youth and Church in Society in helping those in need all around the world.

LAWN CARE:  On the door to the storage closet across from the mailboxes, there is a sign up sheet for volunteers to mow the church lawn.  Thanks for helping us make our Church beautiful to all!

YOUTH WORKER BACKGROUND CHECKS:  We are set to begin the background check process for youth ministry workers.  If your role at FOV includes youth contact, look for information to appear in your mailbox soon.  Because of the confidential nature of the information you are providing, please DO NOT put completed forms in my mailbox.  Hand them directly to me or make arrangements with Karen or Pastor to get them to me.  Completed forms will be scanned and shredded.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Brian Beatty at 499-1460 or beattyfamily@rocketmail.com.  Thank you for your service to our youth!

CORE TEAM LEADER VACANCY:  We currently have no one serving as Stewardship Core Team Leader. Doug Satow’s second term expired at the end of February this year and while he wants to stay involved with Stewardship, he is now committed to serving as the Outreach and Hospitality Core Team Leader. There was an individual who answered the call to fill the Stewardship Core Team Leader position but will be relocating out of the area due to his job. Please prayerfully consider answering a call to serve in this ministry. If you would like more information about this ministry and what is required, please feel free to speak to Pastor Jim or to Doug at 231-883-4086 or by email at dsatow@charter.net.

COFFEE:  Here is a list of the varieties of coffee we have here at the church:  Breakfast Blend (whole bean), French Roast (whole bean), Columbian (ground), Columbian Decaf (ground), Mind Body and Soul (whole bean), Café Salvador (ground), and Organic Sisters’ Blend (ground).  If you need coffee and we do not have the variety you like, you can order a case directly from LWR, by calling 774-776-7340. You can get mixed cases too, if you like flavored coffee or prefer decaf sometimes.  It is all good!  There are order forms on the "coffee" table in the narthex.  Check out all the different varieties available before you call.  Check with Karen for availability of the usual varieties.  If you go to www.lwrcoffee.com on line you can also order chocolate, tea and other good stuff!  A small amount of each purchase goes to LWR "Small Farmer Fund" for projects supporting small farmers and their families.

CLEANLINESS NEXT TO GODLINESS:    In order to be more conscious about spreading germs during Holy Communion, all those who serve the Sacrament will use hand sanitizer immediately prior to serving. Thanks!

MONEY COUNTERS NEEDED:  We are in need of more offering money counters.  If you are interested in this important ministry please see Jean Friday for more information.  Thanks!

ENHANCED VISITATION MINISTRY AT FEAST:  Combined goals between Church Council and Stephen Ministry allow the visitation ministry at Feast of Victory to be enhanced.  Scheduled periodic drop-in visits to those who are somewhat or fully homebound have already begun.  This is not to be seen as formal Stephen Ministry confidential one-on-one relationships but simply periodic visits to keep “in touch” with those who are not able to always be present at worship or participate in other ministries.  If you would like to be one of the visitors, please contact Peggy Burns.  Her phone number and email address may be found in your Feast Membership/friends directory.  If you would like to receive periodic visits, please also contact Peggy.

NEXT SUNDAY’S SCRIPTURAL TEXTS:  The readings for next Sunday, August 8th are Genesis 15:1-6, Hebrews 11:1-3, 8-16, and Luke 12:32-40.

MASTER CALENDAR: A Master Calendar is located in the Secretary's office on the cabinet by the back wall.  When meetings, classes, or activities are planned, please place on Master Calendar...event, date, time, and room within building that will be utilized.  Why?  More ministry...more days and evenings utilized!  It's a good (God) thing!
